AC Maintenance & Tune-Ups in Hollywood, FL

In South Florida your air conditioner works almost every day of the year. A regular AC tune-up keeps it efficient, keeps the drain line clear and catches weak parts before they leave you without cooling.

Your plan

The Next 12 Months

  • Service visit. You are due for a visit now.
  • Filter. Change the air filter every 1 to 3 months. A dusty home, doors that open often or a return vent near the front door clog it sooner, so check it once a month. The calendar marks every 2 months as a starting point.
  • Drain line. Flush it with a cup of white vinegar every 3 months.

What you get

What Is Included in an AC Tune-Up

A real air conditioner tune-up is more than a quick rinse and a look around. We go through the whole system, indoors and outdoors, and leave it ready for the heat.

Outdoor Unit

  • Clean the condenser coil
  • Check the fan motor and blades
  • Inspect the contactor and capacitor
  • Look for corrosion and oil stains that point to a refrigerant leak

Indoor Unit

  • Inspect the evaporator coil
  • Flush the condensate drain line
  • Clean the drain pan and test the safety switch
  • Check the blower wheel and motor
  • Check the air filter

Electrical and Controls

  • Tighten the electrical connections
  • Measure the amperage draw of the motors and compressor
  • Test the capacitors
  • Calibrate the thermostat
  • Test the safety controls

Performance Check

  • Check the refrigerant pressures
  • Measure the temperature difference between supply and return air
  • Check the airflow
  • Tell you what we found and what to keep an eye on

Why it matters

Why Regular AC Maintenance Pays for Itself

People rarely skip an oil change, but AC maintenance gets put off until something breaks. In this climate, that is the expensive way to do it.

Lower Electric Bills

Clean coils and the right refrigerant charge let the system cool the house using less power.

Fewer Breakdowns

A weak capacitor or a slow drain line is easy to fix during a visit and expensive to ignore.

Longer System Life

A system that is cleaned and checked regularly does not work as hard, so it lasts longer.

No Water Damage

Algae grows fast in Florida drain lines. Flushing them keeps water off your ceiling and floors.

Better Humidity Control

A clean coil pulls more moisture out of the air, so the house feels cooler at the same setting.

Warranty Protection

Many manufacturers ask for proof of regular maintenance to honor the warranty.

Between visits

What You Can Do Yourself

Most of what keeps an air conditioner healthy between visits takes a few minutes and no tools. The air filter matters most: a clogged one restricts airflow, freezes the coil and can make it look like you need a repair when you do not.

If something on this list turns up a problem, that is when to call us for an AC repair. And if the system is older and the visit shows it is near the end, we will talk you through an AC replacement before it fails.

  • Change the Air Filter on Schedule

Every one to three months. Pets, dust and a return vent near the front door mean changing it sooner.

  • Flush the Drain Line

Pour a cup of white vinegar into the drain line access every few months to slow the algae.

  • Keep the Outdoor Unit Clear

Leave about two feet of open space around it and keep plants and debris away.

  • Leave the Vents Open

Closing supply vents does not save energy. It raises the pressure in the ducts and strains the system.

FAQ

AC Maintenance Questions, Answered

How often should I service my AC in South Florida?

At least once a year. Because systems here run almost all year, twice a year is the schedule we recommend: once before summer and once in the fall.

Is AC maintenance really necessary?

Yes. Dirt on the coils, a slow drain line and worn electrical parts build up quietly. A maintenance visit finds them while they are still small, cheap fixes.

How long does an AC tune-up take?

About an hour for a standard residential system. It takes longer if the system has not been serviced in a while.

How much does AC maintenance cost?

It depends on the system and its condition. We tell you the price before the visit, and before any extra work if we find something.

When is the best time to service an AC?

Before the heavy summer heat is ideal, but in South Florida there is no bad month. If it has been more than a year, the best time is now.

Does maintenance mean I will never need a repair?

No. Parts still wear out. Maintenance lowers the odds of a breakdown and usually catches the problem before it stops the system.

What part of AC maintenance can I do myself?

Change the filter on schedule, flush the drain line with white vinegar and keep the outdoor unit clear. Leave the electrical parts, the refrigerant and the coil cleaning to a technician.
